Historically, IT support in Penn State Outreach (Outreach) has been decentralized and lacking collaboration among IT professionals. The approach to endpoint computer management has varied throughout the organization and reached across several IT support areas and included self-managed users. With growing complexity of the endpoint computing space and increased emphasis at the University level around policy compliance, the diversity in Outreach’s approach to endpoint management poses challenges as well as inefficiencies. Chief to these challenges is Outreach’s inability to track all of Outreach’s computing assets and to properly enforce Penn State University (PSU) policy.
I worked primarily as a technical expert, but I also assisted the project manager on various tasks.
